SVAA Technology

Learning Management System (LMS)

All SVAA courses are housed in our online Learning Management System (LMS). Here you will find online course work, surveys, and more.  It is strongly recommended that you also download the TalentLMS app on your smart-phone, but it is also accessible via your desktop web browser.

For The Essentials, The PREWORK unit is available to watch before the course begins. Note that all the units presented live in the class, either in our Dr. Robert Denton Training Facility or virtually, have a unit number. Each unit includes a survey in the LMS. Please make sure you complete these surveys, as your feedback is incredibly important to us. You will also see there are several units that are recorded, you will have 30 days to complete the recorded units and all the surveys. Once each item is complete, the LMS will give you your course certificate. Note that each item MUST be clicked on to complete.

Virtual Classroom

To ensure that virtual students get as immersive an experience as those able to attend In Person, SVAA has installed a video system, courtesy of the Akron Community Foundation Wish Book, with the ability to switch between multiple cameras and each section’s PowerPoint presentation. This has made the 40-hour class far more engaging for those unable to attend in-person with us.

Each session of the Essentials has the option of being hybrid if 3 or more participants choose to attend online.  Each session will have a presenter and moderator. It will be the moderators’ job to connect with virtual students and ask questions on their behalf. It is requested that all virtual participants sign in early at 7:30am EST on the first day of class to ensure there are no technical difficulties.

Below are required for participants to be successful from home.

  • High Speed Internet Connection
  • An operating camera on your PC or laptop (not mandatory but VERY helpful)
  • Ability to engage each session through live discussion, chat, polls and surveys
  • In-person students may choose the virtual option only in an emergency as resources have been planned based on numbers of students in each venue
