The presentations given by Victim Assistance Program have been very beneficial for the students in my Victimology class at Kent State University at Stark. Jan describes not only the services provided by the Victim Assistance Program, but also the need for these services in our community. Additionally, the presentations have sparked an interest for many of our students to complete internships with the Victim Assistance Program and also to pursue careers working with victims of crime. In summary, education and involvement are vital, and Kent State University strongly values the relationship with the Victims Assistance Program as a means to works towards these goals.

Victim Assistance Program’s Director of Community Engagement recently teamed up with our office to train one hundred eighteen staff members of the Akron Adult Parole Authority Region about responding to Human Trafficking.  Thanks to Victim Assistance Program, staff members are now better equipped with tools to recognize the red flags, and know the available resources to respond to Human Trafficking once identified.
