Your presentation identified the many services available through the Victim Assistance Program. It also shed light on the types of victimization that are most common and how the services that are offered by your agency can be used to assist those in need."
~ Susan M. Kunkle, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Kent State University
Victim Assistance Program was very beneficial to staff and residents of AMHA on the education presented for the many services Victim Assistance has to offer. The presenter did a fantastic job explaining all the ways that this wonderful program can assist people if they become a victim of a crime. Knowing that there is an agency in our area to turn to for information, support, and guidance brings about a feeling of relief to know there is an agency that cares."
~ Kristine Floyd, Service Coordinator Elderly/Disabled, Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority
We believe that every church, school and library should request to have an open presentation about the problems of modern day human traffic activity. These are all public places where the young and parents are too trusting of their surroundings."
~ Diane Jackson, Director, Cascade Church
The presentations given by Victim Assistance Program have been very beneficial for the students in my Victimology class at Kent State University at Stark. Jan describes not only the services provided by the Victim Assistance Program, but also the need for these services in our community. Additionally, the presentations have sparked an interest for many of our students to complete internships with the Victim Assistance Program and also to pursue careers working with victims of crime. In summary, education and involvement are vital, and Kent State University strongly values the relationship with the Victims Assistance Program as a means to works towards these goals.
~ Brian A. Chopko, Ph.D., P.C., Associate Professor of Criminology & Justice Studies, Kent State University at Stark
Victim Assistance Program’s Director of Community Engagement recently teamed up with our office to train one hundred eighteen staff members of the Akron Adult Parole Authority Region about responding to Human Trafficking. Thanks to Victim Assistance Program, staff members are now better equipped with tools to recognize the red flags, and know the available resources to respond to Human Trafficking once identified.
