National Night Out: On Tuesday, August 7th from 5 pm – 8 pm, help us spread the word about our services at National Night Out locations throughout Summit County! National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Summit for Kids: On Saturday, August 18th from 10 am – 3 pm, help us spread the word about our programs and services at the Summit for Kids Family Expo!
Akron Pride Festival: On Saturday, August 25th from 12 pm – 6 pm, help us spread the word about our programs and services at the Akron Pride Festival!
Barberton Mum Festival: Help us spread the word about our programs and services at the Barberton Mum Festival, a two-day event that highlights local organizations within our community. The Barberton Mum Festival will be held on Saturday, September 29th, and Sunday, September 30th.
When members of the community start learning the impact that trauma leaves on us all, it can motivate people to get involved. If your social club, church group, co-workers, neighborhood or any other group wants to give back through volunteering, there are many ways we can customize an opportunity. Some groups have:
Victim Assistance Program has a long history of providing meaningful training and hands-on experience to students. In fact, 44% of our current staff were previous student interns. Internships are highly competitive and interested students should apply 60-90 days in advance of the semester. Internships can be self-driven or completed for school credit. Interns at Victim Assistance Program have come from the following majors; Social Work, Criminology, Women’s Studies, Para-Legal, Nursing, Criminal Justice Studies, and Child & Family Development. Victim Assistance Program Interns are unpaid positions and are available Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
