3rd Annual Responding to the Needs of Victims Conference

Featuring: Internationally recognized experts Chief Thomas R. Tremblay (ret) and Lt. Mark Wynn (ret)

OBJECTIVES

  • Define trauma in the context of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking.
  • Understand how victim trauma can impact your response, investigation and prosecution.
  • Identify successful first response and communication strategies across the multi-disciplinary team to promote victim empowerment and encourage continuation in the criminal justice system.
  • Understand criminal sexual offender behaviors and course of conduct and develop investigative strategies that focus on offender behaviors.
  • Understand common characteristics of a domestic violence offender and lethal risk to victims.
  • The “hidden” victim –  the impact of domestic violence on children.
